Asset Management – With 5500MW of Asset Management responsibility, CPV is the largest third-party provider of "Owner for Hire" asset management services in the gas fired power plant sector.

The owners of electric power plants seek predictable, strong financial performance in the near term and significant value growth over time. As managers and operators, CPV takes control with two goals in mind: achieving consistent profitability year on year while positioning the plants for the opportunity to realize maximum value with minimum delay.

The CPV management team has the complete capability and experience to optimize both operations and profitability. Unlike consulting firms, CPV brings to bear hands-on experience throughout the power plant lifecycle: from concept and development through financing, construction and testing, to finally placing the plant into commercial service and managing its everyday operation. Those skills permit CPV to optimize the value of the projects it operates because value creation in operating plants goes beyond competent administration, to the redevelopment of the projects. CPV analyzes every commercial arrangement with respect to each project it manages, including the relationships with the O&M contractor and energy manager. We review every permit and regulatory approval. We consider every technical constraint on the project’s economic performance, whether at the plant or on the surrounding grid. Armed with a diagnosis of the issues that sap the project’s economic performance, we devise a plan to address them and then implement the plan.

Our people do not simply consult, analyze and recommend solutions. Instead, we deliver results. We first assess the current status of the power plant, then devise and implement solutions that align with the owner's business goals. CPV presents options that span the risk/reward spectrum and then implements the solution that fits the owner's needs.

For plants in construction, CPV will manage the construction contracts and work with the equipment manufacturers to ensure the plant is appropriately tested and placed into commercial operation without delay. CPV will also ensure that the requirements for transition from construction financing to permanent financing are met. If necessary, CPV can manage dispute resolution with respect to equipment supply or construction.

CPV can also prepare a complete competitive analysis of a plant's regional wholesale market. In ranking the competing power suppliers in the market, CPV gives the owner a clear and candid picture of where their plant stacks up. This includes a competitive review of the electric transmission and fuel supply positioning of the plant including opportunities to implement arbitrage strategies for fuel and electrical output. CPV's team of experienced power sellers and fuel buyers can then implement the strategy on an everyday basis.

CPV brings decades of experience in optimizing the day-to-day profitability and the long-term value of the power plant. We continuously review the performance of the plant's operating staff to maximize the plant's availability during periods of high revenue generation. CPV 's existing relationships with the major equipment manufacturers also helps to optimize the plant's availability and reduce maintenance costs.

In addition, CPV’s understanding of the federal, state, and local permits and regulatory approvals required to legally operate the power plant enhances the bottom line. Non-compliance is inefficient, costly and can damage an owner's good name. CPV 's stellar reputation with the regulatory agencies helps to mitigate and eliminate this risk.

In summary, the CPV team has the in-depth, hands-on experience to optimize today's profitability of the power plant as well as maximize the future value of the asset.
